In actuality a computer program takes in a web-cam image or a visual image from a cell phone and searches the field of view for things and then displays something more interesting overtop of it. So now your boring kitchen table can become an even more boring dungeons and dragons battlefield! Or perhaps your ugly head can be replaced by a less uglier head, even though that specific technology will most likely never exist for the majority of you. Augmented reality can be experienced usually by printing out a symbol of some type and away you go!
